new years eve invitation : 2014

When it's New years Eve + your 50th birthday you gotta ring in the year big time. This invitation was all about "Mike." Athlete, card shark, golf lover, father of two, with a very good sense of humor. Black + white with gold foil all over. And the real show stopper was the incredible calligraphy mixed with vintage sports stamps. This was truly a fun one!

Event Planner: Elizabeth James
Calligraphy: Poppy & Scooter

woodsy rehearsal dinner invitation / franklin, tennessee

IMG_6761 Before we get too far into the new year, check out a design we did this past winter. The goal was to create an “outdoorsy, masculine, & preppy design” for a rehearsal dinner. The only other requirement was to include an antique monogram the couple had chosen of their initials. Instead of creating the illustrations ourselves, like we normally do, we found these beautiful deer images and a botanical background.

It all really came together once we lined the envelopes, duplexed the backs with faux-bois paper, and tied up each package with ribbon & twine. Event planner, Elizabeth James had the brilliant idea of using a collection of vintage stamps for postage which was the pièce de résistance! IMG_6696 IMG_6739

music city center invitation

The construction of the new Music City Center is quite a site in downtown Nashville. The convention center spreads three blocks and has this ultra cool, modern, music vibe. Here's one of our latest designs from this new gem.

Bride Brooke came to us after seeing our Hermitage Hotel invitation from a few years ago. Her fiance's father was involved in the new convention space so they were hosting the rehearsal dinner there. We illustrated the new space, the Country Music Hall of Fame across the street, and the Union Station Hotel where guests were staying. All very Nashville, down to the Johnny Cash stamps.

stompin' the divots polo party

What started as a "save the date" design ended up a party invitation. Currier drew this great polo player & flag illustration and it didn't up jiving with the bride for her wedding, but she loved it for a party hosted in their honor. We were just happy this little guy got to go somewhere! The type was letterpressed and the vibrant watercolor printed 4-color. The shindig was on a beautiful farm in Franklin and the groom is a professional polo player so there was even a match before the big dinner.

I think the best part is the detail on the envelope. Gives it a little somethin' special before the big reveal inside.

nautical / map party invitations

We've been anxious to share this nautical party project we worked on last Fall and now's the time! It was a doozy (in a good way) and we worked really, really hard so they're really special. You can read all about them on the Oh So Beautiful Paper blog. Event planner: Elizabeth James
